Health

Health and Fitness area major focus for me. At the foundation, this includes diet, exercise and mental health.

Diet primarily concerns both the healthy food I eat to support my strength and endurance and to support and aid health conditions such as Mast Cell Activation Disease (MCAD) and more specifically, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS).

Great strength and endurance are my primary fitness goals with strength training and hiking being the activities I enjoy most. Since I no longer have dogs, I have focused more on hiking, but have finally come to grips with walking regularly in my current home town of Haney, within Maple Ridge.

I am fortunate to live surrounded by some of the most beautiful places on earth. Golden Ears Park is right next door, with mountains to hike with challenging trails to travel, providing a regular challenge. There are many more great hikes to consider across BC and beyond.

At the moment I am not doing any running, but this is primarily due tothe fact that in order to put on muscle and gain the strength needed to lift 400+ lbs, I am now too heavy for running to be comfortable on my joints. Losing some of that weight is now my current goal. And hopefully I will do some running and racing once again. Maybe Triathlon, who knows!

Longer range plans include overnight backpacking adventures with the West Coast Trail at the forefront of that  list. Black Tusk and Garabaldi and so many other places to choose from.
