My real name is Richard Ford and I have been called Dick Dorf by many close friends for 30 years. Some call me “The Professor;” some call me “Dr. Dick Dorf, Man of Danger” and yet others call me “Dr. Dick Dorf, International Man of Psychobabble!” Most just call me Dick, although in the beginning, “Dorf” was the name. Geoff Scott, president of Chi Gamma Chapter of Zeta Psi Fraternity at the University of Calgary, thought ah yes, Ford backwards and started Dick Dorf! My Grandfather went by “Dick” and I always respected him, so I have always been okay with the name.
Dick Dorf is who I am and the person I have been for many years. A little more raw than the Richard Ford many see, maybe. But I feel it is time for me to write about the things I see, good or bad. But as I tend to look at human behaviour in a way that puts individuality on a pedestal and I enjoy differences, regardless of whether or not I agree with them, I won’t be slagging anything just because it is different.
I learn from differences. I appreciate them. I may not agree with them, but in the end I don’t really care that we have differences. I am not going to lose sleep over differences amongst people and I am not going to worry about them. I don’t get stressed out or fearful as a result, so say what you will! Please!
